Eight months in the making, this is an attempt to educate the masses. Not necessarily to convert people into fans, in fact, this is more for the semi-fans who insist on ignoring everything but the Gold compilation.

Thanks mainly to tribute bands and the stage show Mamma Mia!, people are forgetting the true ABBA. Too much of their modern image revolves around the (deliberately) crazy costumes and happy-go-lucky lyrics. The real ABBA had so much variety.

And so was conceived this chronology – it’s the fairest and most interesting way to present the history of the foursome. Listen to their sound evolve from folk to synthpop via many others; note the experiments with reggae, funk, classical and techno. Watch their fashion and lyrics mature.

There is this song i play from a backing track site, but the drums suck and there isn’t any vocals, that takes away the feeling. Is there a way i could combine the songs vocals onto the backing track, without the guitar?

You need a music sequencing program such as cubase…
I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to do, but it sounds like you want to add audio tracks to a midi file…

If that is what you want to do, its easily achievable, and you could get all the midi instruments sounding really good with some nice VST’s.

Import the midi track into your cubase project (or any sequencer alike), Dissolve it, this will split all the parts into seperate tracks (this will vary depending on program). Apply better instrument sounds to each track from your VST bank.

Then you want to put an audio track on to record your vocals I think?

Thats quite easy. Just hit record on the audio track! Be sure you’re using a decent mic + mic preamps if you want to get a really nice sound.
EQ, Compress, Noise Gate and other effects are also useful in gettin a nice mic sound.
You should also check out some reverb effects that come with a good sequencing program.

I heard that the Weather Channel is no longer playing smooth jazz music during their "Local On the 8s" segments. They are starting to play instrumental rock music now. I personally do not like this. It just doesn’t seem like the Weather Channel to play this type of music. What does anyone else think?

I am so close to caring.

I want to give my guitar a heavy metal sound so I can play songs from bands like

-Slayer
-Metallica
-Megadeth

But on my cheap fender i can’t get my guitar to sound like anything other than a tin can. (Even with max distortion it sounds too high pitched and very whiny. Its hard to explain.) Any reccommendations?

Turn the bass all the way up, turn contour and treble to 7 and 5 respectively.

Turn the distortion to 7 or 8.

With a small amp, it’s very hard to get a metal sound, but I’ve got one and I use the above settings, and it sounds decent.

Here’s a site you might find helpful. Click the make of amp you’ve got, then select a setting for it (it’ll be something along the lines of "heavy metal" or "crunchy,") and it’ll give you directions on how to make it sound as close to the sound you want as the amp will go.

WISHING YOU WERE HERE AGAIN.. Phantom of the Opera.. The success of this song is using a classical guitar and if the female singer has a bell like voice.. it can be another show stopper if it’s done right.
