Why do Christianity think rock n roll is the Devil’s music?
I’m just asking because in the early days of rock n roll, the Christians were saying that rock music
is the Devil’s music.
…because it was very expressive and christians hate freedom of expression.
Can I directly start learning with electric guitar instead of acoustic?Am a fan of rock music&love elec guitar?
Hi, I am an ardent listener to rock and heavy metal music. I am planning to learn guitar. But the tutors that I find here teach acoustic guitar. Can I directly learn electric guitar instead of learning acoustic guitar first? Please advise
I learned on acoustic then got an electric later. I think that works best. Although, if you don’t even like acoustic music, just go with electric. Play what you like so you’ll be sure to stick with it. That’s the important thing really. It doesn’t do you any good to buy an acoustic and then quit in 2 months because you aren’t enjoying it.
What are the different types of rock music ?
I want to know the main different types of rock music. I’m NOT looking for all types (for example: folk metal), but just the main ones. I’m making a chart of all genres and types of music as an extra credit project for my music history class. I plan to use the main types as a starting point to classify the subtypes (such as folk metal).
Basically:
Rock
Metal
Folk
Alternative
All other genres are subtypes of those… Punk is a subgenre of alternative, grindcore is a subgenre of metal, etc.

Can anybody recomend a good book on the History of Rock Music written by a musician?
I’ve read Piero Scaruffi’s History of Rock Music. I think he gives good insight regarding sociology, and originality. I think his view of what well executed musical technique sounds like may be a little skewed due to the fact that he is a non musician.
Here are a couple you might want to look at. Best wishes.
What is the percentage of Rock (including Metal) music in your music library?
I’d say Rock music represents about 65% of my music.
Pop represents about 25%
And all other genres, 10%.
BQ: Do you prefer listening to music through earphones or speakers?
BQ2: What is your favorite song that is 3:08 minutes long?
I think about 90% of my collection is Rock. The remaining 10% is a mix between county, jazz, world, and big band/swing. Although, that isn’t to say I have a few albums from each genre…I have several. I have a lot of music! LOL
Punk makes up about 70-75% of my overall collection.
I definitely prefer speakers! Headphones are really bad for your ears.
3:08? This is an awesome question! LOL
It’s a tossup between:
Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash
Last Call by Street Dogs
Hey Pachuco! by Royal Crown Revue
Hometown Zero by Hometown Zero
Break The Glass by Suicide Machines
All those songs are REALLY good!

What is a common characteristic between all Rock Music?
I would like to know if the sub-genres of Rock Music have any common characteristics apart from their common roots in Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll.
For example, is there a connection between the blues, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, punk, metal, pop rock, soft (or easy) rock, etc.
Also, for this analysis, should I be including any other important sub-genres? I’m trying to stick with the main ones.
The guitar:)
How will mainstream rock music change this decade?
It seems like the mainstream focus of rock changes every ten years. The 60’s had British Invasion/Classic Rock, the 70’s had Late Classic rock/ Arena Rock, The 80’s punk and metal, the 90’s grunge/alternative, and the 00’s " Post Grunge", or whatever you want to call it. My question is, what genre of rock music will become more mainstream over the next few years?
I think Grunge will make a comeback. Alice In Chains just put out a new album, Pearl Jam are still going, Soundgarden just reunited and Stone Temple Pilots are making a new album.
