How to become a professional guitarist without being in a band?
I want to play on songs with musicians for their albums, I want to be their lead guitarist for their concerts. Yeah, basically it. Now I do not think highly of myself, that is just what I am aiming for. But yeah, I don’t want to be in a band, at all. So can I still become a professional?
yes, but you have to be 100 times better than if you were in a band…like Joe Satriani…

Somehow position yourself to work in a studio, or a number of studios, so that your work appears on many CD’s. Offer yourself for that purpose on your own website, with examples of music that you have been a part of, and if it’s good, watch them line up to hire you!

Take lessons and study hard, it is the only way to do it… you need to have talent too.

You can hire a band for you gigs and to play the music you write. And you become professional by time and practice. You can’t just be professional. You can at least play music for people who appreciate it. I’m not sure where you live, but you can play on the street etc. Get attention. And let people know that you’re available to join a band

Sure you can. But you need to go for lessons….lots of lessons. You have to have some credentials to back yourself up and some "band" time in playing, otherwise, they won’t even look at you or consider you. You have to build a professional name for yourself, almost like a "professional resume". And, goes without saying, you need to practice your as* off.

There’s such a role called Session Musician. This is a musician that is called in by bands or artists when they need, for example, an extra guitarist, or a drummer who is really really good in a certain genre of music, that sort of thing. If you get really, really good, broaden your knowledge in most genres of music, and make a name for yourself, make lots of contacts, then that’s a great way to becoming a session musician.
Hope this helped, I would also like to become a session musician, but I doubt I’ll ever get good enough haha.
