Does it hurt an acoustic pickup to add heavy metal distortion?
A friend of mine said that using heavy metal distortion on an acoustic pickup hurts the pickup. This didn’t make sense to me cause its a input, meaning that it reads electric signals and then the amp distorts the readings. But then again I dont know a ton about pickups. SO i just thought Id be better safe than sorry since i just bought one.
Tell your friend to stick to hockey Dude. If you like the distorted sound than get a Boss DS-1.
That is the best pedal for clean distortion. It won’t damage anything but your mom and dad’s ears LOL..
Enjoy it dude.

Don’t listen to your friend.
He’s a doofus.
I’ve done it just for kicks and – YES IT WORKS.
The sustain isn’t what you may like it to be, but it will work.
Perry.
