Heavy Metal Movie Trailer

for it’s time, great animation, great music, a cult favorite An astronaut brings home a glowing green orb for his daughter. However, the orb kills him and corners the girl for its purposes. Claiming to the embodiment of all evil, the malevolent sphere, known as the Loc-Nar, terrorizes the little girl by showing a series of bizarre and fantastic tales it has influenced. The first is “Harry Canyon,” a cynical taxi driver in a squalid futuristic New York who finds himself involved with a damsel in distress who is relentlessly pursued by murderous thugs who desire the Loc-Nar her archaeologist father found. The second is “Den” which chronicles the adventures of a nerdish boy who is thrown into the fantasy world of Neverwhere, where he is transformed into a studly naked muscle-man, desired by beautiful women, who must get involved in a conflict revolving around possession of the Loc-Nar. The third is “Captain Sternn” where the title character is a handsome but irredeemable scoundrel who stands accused in a trial that Loc-Nar throws into chaos. The fourth is “B-17″, where a World War II bomber plane limps home after a bombing run, only to have the Loc-Nar ram into it and revive the dead crew members as murderous zombies. The next is “So Beautiful, So Dangerous” where a buxom secretary at the Pentagon is abducted by stoned alien wastrels and a oversexed robot. The final story is “Taarna”, where the Loc-Nar has to come to a future Earth and changes a peaceful people into a horde of murderous barbarians who rampage with genocidal zeal. Only the last Tarackian, a silent swords-woman known as Taarna, can avenge the victims and stop the Loc-Nar.

    shadowwolf41, I …
shadowwolf41, I totally agree, that’s what blew me away when I saw the original Heavy Metal for the first time. The hand drawn art work and rotoscoped scenes completely mesmerized me. My eyes were glued. The 70s/80s style of animation used in the original is a unique style of art in its own right, and deserves respect. It shouldn’t be treated like “old style” that should be abandoned.

I actually feel the opposite, if one thing is going to kill the 2011 release it’ll be if it’s in CG (which it looks like it will be) rather than a 100% 2D drawn cartoon animation. I’m sorry but CG is great for movies like Disney’s Up and Avatar but one thing that strikes me about the original as a positive was the grungy quality to the animation and I find that the more high-tech, computer generated the image is, the worse off it’ll be. Don’t believe me, watch Heavy Metal 2000.

Well i agree, have you seen Beowulf? awesome CGI animated movie for adults and there’s Haunted World of El Superbeasto as that rocked too.

What about Japanese animation? closet thing to adult animation even hentai like Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend, sex and gore feasts like Wicked City and Ninja Scroll or sci-fi feasts like Akira and Ghost in The Shell. If you liked HM ScrewAttack, check those out including some good hentai.

    FDavid Fincher, …
FDavid Fincher, Guillermo Del Toro, James Cameron, Rob Zombie, Jack Black, Gore Verbinski and some are gonna do a new HM movie in a variety of different animation such as 2D handrawn, CGI, Clay Animation, Stop Motion, Sketchy (ala Take on Me) and Japanese animation.

They need to have Katsuhiro Otomo of Akira fame, Yoshikita Kawaijri (”Ninja Scroll”), Will Vinton (”Claymation” and “Raisins”), Henry Sellick (”Nightmare Before Christmas”) etc. for segments.
