I’ve heard from people that Slipknot’s not a heavy metal band, but a nu metal band/hard rock band. How many of you metalheads think Slipknot’s a real heavy metal band?

Is not HEAVY!!! Is Nu metal. Heavy metal are judas priest, black sabbath and such, listen one song of them and you will hear the difference.

   I do like heavy metal like Trivium, All That Remains, In Flames, and so on but I think slipknot is not really heavy metal but they ain’t hard rock either. There new CD is killer drums with fast double kick pedal, and there guitars are hard riffs with some solo’s and the singing is screamed somewhat, and those qualities fit the description of metal, so I guess they are somewhat considered metal. I can’t give you a yes or no, only in my opinion which I say is not heavy metal.

   The answer is not too easy.

   Their old stuff is Heavy Metal but their newer stuff has gotten slightly more towards Nu-Metal.

   But they’re usually counted as a heavy metal band though.

   I don’t think Slipknot is HM.

   Maybe it is considered a nu metal, but IMO the nu genre stopped being metal, when they mixed metal with hip hop and other genres, so basically it stopped being metal the moment it was created.
