Where else can heavy metal go as a genre?

In terms of development, hasn’t everything worth doing with heavy metal already been done already? Is everything that is coming out now just a repeat of something else?

Although metal music has been so diverse and adaptable in the past, I think that there is a little bit of a danger of it becoming over-saturated and stagnant if something new and exciting can be done with it. What are your thoughts on this?

I don’t know, I see what you mean, but I don’t really think the stuff that’s coming out today are replicas of past work as each artist has their own aspect of individuality and there’s new stuff coming out all the time that was probably never predicted in the past and so it will probably be the same in the future, we just don’t know what to predict yet. =) xx

nah it’s gonna be the same old stuff. just like hard rock and other "straight up" genres there’s really nothing original that can be done without being labeled under a different subgenre.
