    both you guys are …
both you guys are idiots, this weapon is designed to take down incoming missiles or enemy vehicle/aircraft

it’s not used to kill just ONE guy or to even be fired upon just ONE guy.

  2. @kagehunt1134 No …
@kagehunt1134 No one ever said you shoot one hundred bullets for one guy. Only you said that, and you obviously don’t know what you are talking about. You even called the .50 cal, a 50. cal. And this weapon system CAN fire rounds as big and larger than .50 cal. You are a moron, simple as that. Just stop commenting, you’ll embarrass yourself less that way.

  3. ya but when you u …
ya but when you u fire so many bullets at once it doesn’t seem that practical ,1 hundred bullets for one guy, when one gets the job done. and for firing one big bullet u use a different gun like the 50. cal which has been in service for a long time

  4. @kagehunt1134 One …
@kagehunt1134 One small bullet from a metalstorm weapon kills a person anyway. And then you have thousands more bullets to kill thousands more people. Not to mention you ignored all my other points about how the weapon would explode if you fired just one large bullet. Are you 12 years old or something? I can’t imagine too many people being this dumb.

  5. fire one then your …
fire one then your done it seems too me that 1 bullet could the damage of 160 tiny bullets see what im trying to say

  6. @warbosstoad No the …
@warbosstoad No the barrels would not get worn easily because there are so many barrels and each one only fires once or twice in any given burst. The comparison to the gatling gun is invalid. The gatling gun’s major problem was its bulk and weight. But that was in the days before they had vehicles to mount the gun on. Obviously this tech would be mounted on a vehicle.

  7. @choplaya04 First …
@choplaya04 First of all, stop calling people idiots when you can’t even capitalize properly. Second, what you described is just one possible application of this technology. There are numerous applications.

@ss4456 Learn how to speak English properly.

  9. @NuclearSalvation A …
@NuclearSalvation A smallarms version of metalstorm wouldn’t work in the same way. More than likely, it’s use in small arms is best for grenade launcher attachments to rifles. They already have a prototype that can fire three grenades without reloading.

  10. @MrRevoluzzer You …
@MrRevoluzzer You mean the equivalent to .50 cal rounds. .50 cal uses cases which aren’t compatible with metalstorm which is a caseless design. But metalstorm can use a variety of different sized ammunition, including very large rounds.

  11. @globalwolf In …
@globalwolf In addition the weapon is actually cooler than a single barrel weapon because any individual barrel only shoots once in a single volley.

  12. @globalwolf If it’s …
@globalwolf If it’s mounted on an airplane or helicopter, heating problems aren’t a major issue due to fast moving air cooling the weapon.

  13. @kagehunt1134 …
@kagehunt1134 That’s a pretty dumb question. If you have just one big bullet then propellant would probably blow the weapon up. Not to mention if you are trying to kill infantry, it would be overkill. Plus after one shot, it’s out of ammo. Didn’t think too hard about this question did you?

  14. @randomgamerdude9 …
@randomgamerdude9 No it’s not useless. It’s prototype technology. In this case, metalstorm tech is best used on certain robotic designs like UCAVs or any emerging robotic technologies.

  18. i dont know but …
i dont know but couldnt you have just one big bullet instead of lots of small ones?

  19. Yes it is a weapon. …
Yes it is a weapon. But if you look at it from a pure technological point of view it is a extraordinary idea. If this will stay in an experimental state I don’t mind the metal storm.

  20. Actually, the gun …
Actually, the gun was conceived and designed by James O’Dwyer over 15 years, who is Australian. MetalStorm itself is also an Australian company, and it has a US branch.

  21. No, you just fill …
No, you just fill the bullets straight into the barrels.

Needs more dakka. Never enough dakka.

  24. @Onslaught73 yeah, …
@Onslaught73 yeah, i actually hate weapons and can’t believe those that say how great they are. “oh look at that explosion!”, wow what an amazing weapon”! “amazing firepower!”. think later what you kill with this, rabbits? they say terrorists but that’s another topic.

  25. FYI: The majority …
FYI: The majority of the guys that lead the development of this gun and most of metal storm’s technology are Americans. There are many things that simpletons like you all deem useless, like the HARP or HAARP project in Alaska, that actually have a very important purpose. Don’t be so closed-minded. You probably still believe we’re alone in the universe and that the earth is flat.
