What is the longest you have ever waited for a book to be released?

I have waited 5 long years for Silas House’s fourth book, ‘Eli the Good’, and it’s finally going to be released on the 22nd of this month!

What is the longest you have waited for a book to be released? Are you waiting for any books to be released right now? I’m currently waiting for:

The New York Regional Mormon Singles Dance by Elna Baker (available in October)

and

A Million Miles in A Thousand Years by Donald Miller (available later this month)

I remember waiting for each new installment of The Green Mile when I was a kid (I still can’t believe I went through a Stephen King phase) and then Harry Potter of course, I’m a total Potter nerd. I waited for three hours in a grocery store to get Deathly Hallows. I forced myself to wait between installments of His Dark Materials because I wanted to build up anticipation because I loved it so much.

  3. i guess i haven’t ever waited for one. i read a lot classic lit and most of the modern stuff i read are things i saw plugged on pbs, so theyre already out by the time i hear about them.

    im kinda surprised i cant think of any book i waited for..

    lol, i guess the 9/11 commission report was one i waited for a little bit. lame, i know.

  6. the obvious, midnight sun. i’ve been waiting for that for the past, i don’t know, two years? and i still don’t know if she’s ever actually going to finish it. lol.

  7. Roughly 11 years. One of my favorite series is meant to be a trilogy, but when I first began reading this author, only the first two books had been released. I waited a year before the third book’s release date was given, and I thought I’d been patient. Too bad the release date was false and the book hadn’t even been written. It’s been a decade now, and though the author keeps insisting the book is coming, I’m still waiting.

    …and the really bad part is that the book would have been worth the wait, but the author admitted that she has no intention of re-reading the first two and has been asking her fans for details before she starts the third. I will cry the day I read this book (Captal’s Tower, by Melanie Rawn), because it’s absolutely going to suck.
