What are the different types of rock music ?
I want to know the main different types of rock music. I’m NOT looking for all types (for example: folk metal), but just the main ones. I’m making a chart of all genres and types of music as an extra credit project for my music history class. I plan to use the main types as a starting point to classify the subtypes (such as folk metal).
Basically:
Rock
Metal
Folk
Alternative
All other genres are subtypes of those… Punk is a subgenre of alternative, grindcore is a subgenre of metal, etc.
