Can a male singer with an alto range expand his range enough to hit notes in the whistle register?
I am a 21 year old male singer who’s range is between the contralto and mezzo-soprano range but I was wondering with proper training from a vocal coach or teacher can I expand my range to hit whistle register note’s?I know that Mariah Carey self-identifies herself as a alto singer but is able to sing in the whistle register. So can I do the same thing?Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my question.
Sure, why not? I’m a male baritone who can hit extremely high soprano notes without a problem. No reason why you shouldn’t be able to do it.

Mariah Carey has a deformity in her vocal cord that allows her that range…no you can’t train yourself to hit those whistle notes.

The only way to do that is if you are able to stick a salami down your throat. Then it’s possible, but only 20% of the time.
