You can pay if you want to have professional singing lessons, but to develop your voice without having to pay, you need to look after it. That is warming up, singing from your diaphragm and correct breathing and posture. If you have singing lessons or not, being able to maintain a good healthy voice is a big help. Good luck with your singing. These tips should help for a while, and could maybe cut the cost of a basic teacher for the first few lessons, but it is always best to have a professional to guide you on your way. Good luck :-)
References :
And you only have to pay if you want to take singing lessons.
References :
As a recording engineer... and music director - I run into loads of people who want to become singers.

The one thing that most miss is: Being a singer is a lot like a person with BROWN HAIR. You either HAVE IT or you DON'T.

And if you have it... then you need to develop it.

I've worked with LOTS of people - some I've met here... to evaluate whether they should or should not pursue a career in music. Typically, I can tell within the first MINUTE - if a person is musically predisposed or not.

12 weeks before the finals - I picked the "two DAVIDS" on American Idol last season. I'm always with RANDY - in detecting when a singer is PITCHY or not.

My advise to you - is to find someone who you trust to evaluate your talent. If they say GO FOR IT... then by all means - get started. If they say "sorry" - find someone else and try again, if THEY SAY "sorry" then take up painting or something.

Alan Jackson - CAN'T SING A NOTE. But his engineers are a lot like me and do what I do... in the studio to fix a mediocre singer, and make them sound musical.

Tag me, on messenger, if you want more details.
References :
It depends, are you infact a GOOD singer?
If you think you are and others do aswell. Try setting up your own YouTube account. Also, search Esmee Denters, she now has a recording label/contract just from posting videos of herself singing on YouTube. Try your best with this.

Good luck, hope this helps and I hope you get your wish. (:
