The Tennessee Waltz – singer Patti Page 1950

Posted on November 8th, 2009 by admin in singer | 18 Comments »

Her biggest hit was “The Tennessee Waltz”, which was also released in 1950. “The Tennessee Waltz” was #1 for thirteen weeks in 1950
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patti_Page

written by Redd Stewart and Pee Wee King in 1947, popularized by Patti Page and by Les Paul and Mary Ford in 1950
————————-
I was waltzing with my darlin’ to the Tennesse waltz
when an old friend I happened to see.
I introduced him to my loved one,
and while they were waltzing
my friend stole my sweet-heart from me.

I remember the night and the Tennessee waltz.
Now I know just how much I have lost.
Yes I lost my little darlin’ the night
they were playing the beautiful Tennessee waltz.

I introduced him to my loved one,

Every Released ABBA Song (a 10 minute chronology)

Posted on October 31st, 2009 by admin in released | 25 Comments »

Every Released ABBA Song
(a 10 minute chronology)

Yes, forcing HQ is worth it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs5A3B-LBLQ&fmt=18

Eight months in the making, this is an attempt to educate the masses. Not necessarily to convert people into fans, in fact, this is more for the semi-fans who insist on ignoring everything but the Gold compilation.

Thanks mainly to tribute bands and the stage show Mamma Mia!, people are forgetting the true ABBA. Too much of their modern image revolves around the (deliberately) crazy costumes and happy-go-lucky lyrics. The real ABBA had so much variety.

And so was conceived this chronology – it’s the fairest and most interesting way to present the history of the foursome. Listen to their sound evolve from folk to synthpop via many others; note the experiments with reggae, funk, classical and techno. Watch their fashion and lyrics mature.

Enjoy.

The First Class – Beach Baby

Posted on October 10th, 2009 by admin in band\'s | 25 Comments »

70`s studio-based band featuring Tony Burrows (lead vocals) ,Chas Mills & John Carter who had a Worldwide hit in 1974 with Beach Baby.
The above 3 musicians had no interest in undertaking any live performances so they recruited 5 other guys to perform most live appearances. The 5 guys in the “live” band never appeared on any of the band`s studio recordings.
The record sleeve pictures which show five band members are those who undertook the live dates but dont sing on the recordings !
However the photo on the band`s first album `The First Class ` which features 8 band members is made up of the 3 who actually performed the songs plus the 5 from the “live” band – confused – you should be !
PS there are 2 performances by the band on youtube with this song . The 70`s colour video is the “live band ” who dont feature on the recording.
There is also a more recent amateur video of Tony Burrows performing the song circa 2004 , 30 years after he originally recorded it.

Engelbert Humperdinck – Release me 1985
Released 1966

Please release me, let me go,
For I don’t love you anymore.
To live a lie would be a sin.
Release me and let me love again.

I have found a new love, dear.
And I will always want her near.
Her lips are warm while your’s are cold.
Release me, my darling, let me go.

Please release me, let me go,
For I don’t love you anymore.
To live a lie would be a sin.
So release me and let me love again.

Please release me can you see
You’d be a fool to cling to me
To live a lie would bring us pain
Release me and let me love again
(let me go, let me love)
