How to extract vocals from a song for use as an acapella in mixing?
I want to get the vocals so i can use them in mixing. I have several acapellas already that i have downloaded, but i have 3 or 4 that i really want badly, but can’t find anywhere. If you know a program or a technique used to extract the vocals, please help! Thanks.
since you don’t have the master tapes,
there is no good way to separate the vocals from the instruments
you can "play games" with eq, etc, but they don’t really separate them, they just cut frequencies, so the vocals/instruments sound weird

I agree with your other post. It can’t be done… not properly anyway, and definitely not by an amateur. All samples of just vocals come from the original multitrack recordings. You can fiddle around with EQ but the human voice and its harmonics take up a fair part of the audio spectrum to be intelligible so you will never get a decent quality clip. Also, by using other peoples vocals on your mixes without permission you are lining yourself up for two breach of copyright offenses. Sorry to bring bad news. Best of luck.
